My daughter says her cousins ages 14 and 15 are now wearing Thongs. I find it inappropriate for a teen to wear a thong. Am I just being old fashioned? I don’t want my daughter to be advertising sex, and I believe that is what a thong is for. And yes you can tell when a girl is wearing one even if she is wearing normal clothes.
well thongs were originally used under theater clothes, especially for men (dance belt). Then they were used in modeling, they are less obvious than regular underwear and show less than going without undies.
Anyways, enough of those fun facts. Unless she is a male dancer or a super model, she shouldn’t be wearing one. I agree. Thongs are generally something sexual. Very few articles of clothing call for special panties. I would say at the youngest 16 or 17, closer to 17. Pretty much when they can go get their own money and get their own undies.
And for those of you who are saying that they are just to hide panty lines, come off it. Panty lines are that big a deal. Thats why they came out with the no-show panties. They are made not to have a panty line.

Um no I think you’re right. 14 and 15 are too young, 16 or 17 sounds just about right…and why do teenagers wear thongs? It’s very disturbing to me, you can always wear bikinis or something of that category, but thongs? It’s just plain uncomfortable and too open for those ages. Hope I helped!

Most thongs dont hide pantylines very well and end up just showing a Y shape instead of a V. Therefore it just advertises sex. Ask any guy. I would not let her wear one until she’s 18.

I do think you are being old fashoned. I remember tons of girls wearing thongs when I was in 7th and 8th grade. That was like 6 years ago. I think they did it to fit in and feel mature. Not for sex.
She doesn’t need to wear a thong to advertise sex. If she wants to advetise sex she is going to advertise sex. This is where you hope you did a good enough job parenting and instilled some self respect into your daughter and that she’ll make good decisions.
